Emergency assistance fund

The Michael Project Emergency Assistance Fund started as a fund to provide one-time financial assistance and other non-financial support to students who are faced with an emergency or hardship resulting from COVID and its associated impacts. We've evolved to support college students to meet other immediate, essential expenses that might go unseen in traditional sources of funding (e.g., groceries, emergency flight home, laptop repair). The fund is available to current students who complete a brief application detailing their need for support.

Thank you for your interest in supporting The Michael Project. The novel coronavirus outbreak has disrupted the lives of people all across the country and many college students have been especially impacted by the crisis. Students had to pack up and leave campus with short notice, figure out where to go and how to get there, and come up with a plan to support themselves for an indefinite amount of time. In addition to navigating how to continue their coursework virtually, figure out where to eat, and navigate how to access medical care, many students are dealing with a tremendous amount of stress and anxiety related both to their day-to-day lives and to the uncertainty of what will happen in the future.

As a result of the Coronavirus, and with the generous support of wonderful donors, the Michael Project has created a COVID Emergency Assistance Fund for college students who are especially at-risk during this difficult time. The fund consists of two key components: emergency financial assistance to help students meet immediate, essential expenses like housing, food, and lost wages, and access to a group of community volunteers who can provide 1-1 assistance with specific needs.

While the COVID Emergency Assistance Fund will help meet the most pressing immediate needs of students, we know that the impacts of the Coronavirus outbreak will be far-reaching and college students will be dealing with longer-term effects for many months to come. We know that the core work of The Michael Project will become even more critical in the future as students will need to take time to recharge, reflect, and refresh.
